New Trend: Ombre Hair

I bought a copy of Elle for the plane ride to Ottawa and featured in it was Rachel Bilson, one of my favorite style icons, with ombre hair.  Ombre hair is two toned hair, generally when the ends of the hair are lighter and gradually fade into dark hair, a little like you haven't touched up your roots in a really long time.  I really like this look for two reasons:
1. It looks relaxed and effortlessly cool
2. Very low maintenance

I've thought a lot about doing this to my hair recently, but I am having some reserves.  I don't want it to come out a weird orange colour since my hair is so dark and I really don't want the ends to break off with damage since they kind of are a little dried out already and my hair is extremely fine.  I found a couple blogs of people doing this themselves and I must say that it looked really good on them and the process seems very easy! However, everyone is telling me to go a salon to get it dyed but I really feel like it is kind of a waste of money since it would be so easy to do it myself. Hmm...

Either way I think it's a great look and I would love any advice anyone!

Boxing Day Nightmares/Haul

So even though I am separated from store by 4 provinces I still had to work boxing day. It was shit! Actually it wasn't that bad, all the people I met were nice, the time went by fairly quickly, and I got to purchase some of the merchandise that our store doesn't have yet!
I also went shopping today with my sister, she also lives in a small town where the shopping ain't so good. Her favorite store is urban outfitters and a new one just opened in Ottawa recently. I had never been to one before, checked the website lots, but it was very nice. Store was huge! the layout is quite nice too, it kinda of reminded me of the Anthropology in Toronto. I took some photos of the things I bought today, I only have my iphone as a camera, so I apologize for the quality of the pictures. The tights were on sale for 2 for $24, quite a steal considering both of them are over $20 regular price. I like them a lot, they are both made out of a knit fabric so they are great for the winter. The peggings (pant leggings?) were $29 and I love the colour, they're a slightly lighter and more blue then colour in the picture. The dress was $58 and I wasn't too sure about it at first, then I saw the same one but in a different fabric and loved it! but my sister loved it too and they only had one in our size. I decided to let her have it since that was navy and this one is black and white, a little easier to match.
I'm planning to start doing a regular post soon where I choose my favorite outfit from that week and post it and where I wore. These will all be featured in that soon I hope.

Christmas Vacation

So I am currently at my parents home for the holidays which is awsome since I don't get to see my family very often. But I miss my bf and my kitty cat!(pictured above) Plus I get bored, not much to do here sometimes. So I have a lot of time to browse the web.

My favorite things to pass the time: Fashion Blogs. I love seeing personal style and getting to see how people style certain items or trends. Since I live in the least fashionable city in the world, it can sometimes be my only outlet. This is why I have decided to start my own personal style and fashion blog.

Here I will post pictures of my outfits, my favorite trends, shopping hauls, hair and beauty. It will also serve as  kind of journal for me. I can look back and see what I was doing and hopefully make some friends along the way.

Welcome to Yellow Cupcakes.
